Fourth Annual Grafton Land Trust Quinsigamond River Canoe/Kayak Adventure- Sunday, May 6th

spacer

Please join the Grafton Land Trust on Sunday, May 6th , to explore the Quinsigamond River in canoes and kayaks. We’ll launch from Ekblaw Landing at 1PM, paddle across Lake Ripple, portage around the dam, re-launch in the Mighty Quinsigamond River and proceed to Fisherville Pond, ending at the beautiful, new Riverside Park- a total distance of just over 3 miles. We’ll then shuttle everyone back to Ekblaw to pick up vehicles and return to Riverside to collect canoes and kayaks.

The GLT Canoe/Kayak Adventure is all about the journey, so bring a camera. This stretch of the Quinsig is a little-known jewel of Grafton. We’ll observe beaver lodges and dams, nesting swans, great blue herons, turtles, fish and numerous other forms of wildlife as we navigate the still water of Lake Ripple and the clear, smooth-flowing water of the Quinsig. Paddling along this isolated, natural corridor, it’s hard to fathom that we are virtually traversing the middle of town!

Bring your canoe or kayak with paddles, of course, and all necessary equipment. Floatation vests are required. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing, bug repellent, sunscreen and a hat if it’s sunny. It wouldn’t hurt to bring a change of clothes in a water-proof bag, just in case! Snacks and drinks are always good to tote along as well.

If you intend to join us, please RSVP to Ken @ ken.webb2@verizon.net, or call 508-887-0065 so that we may better plan this adventure.
