We had an AMAZING year in 2009 with lots of great activities. Take a look below at our events calendar from 2009 and see all the fun we had!

2009 Events

January - April, 2009 Membership Drive to 100! - Vacation Raffle!
Our goal was for 100 new members in 2009. Congratulations to Mr. Dick Dion for winning the raffle!

April 25, 2009 9AM - 1PM Community Day & Earth Day Celebration
We cleaned up Grafton and celebrated Eath Day! Our spring cleaning was sponsored by the Grafton Garden Club and Grafton Land Trust, and there was lots of food, live music and activities on the Common after! For more information, click here.

April 26, 2009 10 AM - 1 PM Grafton Spring Trail Day
We built a new trail segment in the popular Gummere Wood area!

July 25, 2009 GLT Equestrian Day
Horse and rider enjoyed a pleasure ride through some of Grafton's most beautiful and wild open space.

September 13, 2009 Mushroom Foray
The Grafton Garden Club and the Grafton Land Trust teamed up to present a wonderful story about local mushrooms. George Davis, from the Boston Mycological Club, detailed local mycology wonders at the Community Barn, and this was followed by a walk through Gummere Woods to view and collect mushrooms. September 15, 2009 Tufts Annual Open House
The Tufts Open House was a great place to tell folks our wonderful story and encourage more to join! This is a great event with fun activities for the whole family.  

September 26 , 2009 Blackstone Valley Greenway Challenge Adventure Race
The Grafton Land Trust team had a wild time participating in this years race. For pictures and info, click here or visit the Greenway Challenge website.

October 4, 2009 Craig LeClaire/ Rich Vacca Scholarship Trail Race
This 5k trail race, and 2 mile walk started at the Community Barn and then throug the beautiful Williams and Marster's Preserves. All proceeds benefitted the Craig LeClaire/Rich Vacca Memorial Scholarship at Grafton High School. To see more info about this great race, click here.

October 11, 2009 Big Pumpkin Trail Ride
This year the Annual Hunter Pace was replaced by the Big Pumpkin Ride. The course was similar to previous year's Hunter Pace with trails through the Potter Hill and Martha Deering Properties, with the start and finish at the Brigham Hill Community Barn (37 Wheeler Rd). October17, 2009 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast and Fall Color Hike- We enjoyed a lovely pancake breakfast at the Brigham Hill Community Barn. Pancakes with genuine maple syrup and other breakfast essentials (scrambled eggs, sausage pattties, fruit juice and coffee, tea or milk) were served and folks spread out afterwards for self-guided tours of our properties. This was a wonderful family event!

October 29, 2009 The Roger D. Hohman Memorial Lecture- Russ Cohen, Rivers Advocate for Mass. Division of Fish and Game, discussed the inner workings of trout streams from leaf litter to the elusive brook trout. "Brookies" are an excellent indicator of the quality of our cold water streams.

November 6, 2009 Annual Meeting
Our 51st Annual Land Trust meeting for members and their guests took place the Brigham Hill Community Barn. Of special note, we were treated to a lecture by Scott Williams of the Connecticut Department of Forestry and Horticulture.
